A Simple Exercise to Create a Better Life!

You already possess everything you need
in order to have the life you want.

Say what!?! Yes, you have within you everything you need to find happiness and success; the problem is that you probably don’t even realize it.

For many of us the key to getting everything we want in life is to begin by first knowing what it is that we really want. We have forgotten what really gives us pleasure and makes us feel fulfilled. It’s as if we have lost the ability to feel most anything and therefore can’t access or identify with who we are anymore.

I see it every day, people whose lives are crammed filled with activities and relationships that don’t make them feel good. In fact for many of us, we are just going through the motions of our lives rather than engaging in or enjoying the process.

Ask Yourself

As you woke up this morning how did you feel when it was time to get out of bed. Think about it, were you feeling energized and excited to begin your day or did you feel as though you couldn’t face the chaos and turmoil awaiting you? Now progress through the day’s events, were your meetings, errands and contact with others pleasant or filled with anxiety? Was your day overflowing with laughter and friends or angry interactions with people who don’t understand your life? Did your day end with you feeling accomplished or defeated?

I know if you asked me a few years ago I wouldn’t be able to tell you what happened in my life a couple of hours ago, so don’t worry if you really can’t remember what you felt like yesterday morning; most people can’t.  I too was disconnected, moving through life on autopilot and definitely not feeling good about anything going on in my life. And I wasn’t alone.

A study by Harris Interactive indicates that a full 74 percent of people today would consider finding a new job because they weren’t happy with where they were at in their lives. Many others feel that something more is missing but they have no clue how to fix things.

How can that be? Aren’t we busier, more educated, more “together” and more connected than ever before? So why aren’t we happier? Could it be that we have forgotten what feeling good and being excited about today and looking forward to tomorrow feels like?

My answer is absolutely.

I think that we don’t have a clue as to what really makes us happy anymore. Sure we can have a fun evening, but when was the last time that you felt truly inspired and satisfied in all aspects of your life? And if it’s been way too long, don’t you think it’s time to do something about that?

I encourage you to take some time today and write down 5 things that make you happy. Remember this is an exercise for you; No one else. It’s something you must do especially if you have been feeling “off” lately. Why? Because you need to remember what it feels like to be happy! It’s inside you and trust me those feelings of good and comfort want to come out…you just need to help them!

So here is a little exercise to help you regain your happy mojo and start living the good life once again. Take a moment and fill in the blank (5 times):

I am happiest when I _____________________________.

Now that you know what makes you happy and fills you up you need to take action. Allow yourself to go out and do at least one of these things in the next 2 days! Trust me it will improve your life exponentially and before you know it your days will be happier and success will come easily!
