Milspouse Life: A Cure For Boredom

The other day as I was IMing (Instant Messaging) with a fellow army wife, we were chatting about our day and how we had spent our time since we had spoken last.  The conversation seemed par for the course; Our days had been long, busy and downright boring, and we were both wishing we were still stationed in the same place so we could hang out and chat in person. As military spouses we missed the day-to-day interaction and the security of knowing there was that person you could count on who didn’t judge (HUGE military life bonus). Yes we were suffering from what felt just like boredom. Now don’t get me wrong, we both…

Why So Much Negativity? It’s Time To Play Nice!

I’ve been debating whether or not to write this post, as it will be filled with my opinions on negativity and there may even be a heavy dose of my thoughts about how people “should” behave. But as with all my pieces, I write from my experiences and well I HAVE something to say about a topic and I’m just gonna put it out there exactly as I feel it! I welcome your thoughts and input and can’t wait to hear your opinions…. The other day I wrote about the value of being nice and ever since then I have been very “tuned in” to how people act and react towards one…

If you can’t say something nice….by Judy Davis, The Direction Diva

Your grandma may have said it, maybe your mom drilled it into your head like mine did, but I sure wish the saying “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all” was making it’s rounds again because I have seen first hand that someone’s momma didn’t teach their children (young and old) this important lesson at all! 🙂 Over the last 4 days I have heard people say the meanest things to their kids, their neighbors, the lady in line at check out – even their pets.  And frankly I just don’t get it.  What good does it do anyone if you are well….mean? I get we all have our “moments”,…

    Handle Change Without Losing Yourself

Some call it re-grouping, others think I disappear on occasion to get away from it all, and those who really “get me” know it has NOTHING to do with them even though I’m sure they get frustrated when I fall off the radar for days at a time! You see while I’m totally a “people” person, I have noticed a trend in my life as of late.  I used to “refuel”  by surrounding myself with people.  I craved large get togethers, meeting strangers and filling my free time with people.  If I wasn’t out and about you could find me on the phone chit chatting (much to my husbands dismay) at all hours of…

How are you participating in your life?

Never forget that YOU have the ability to CHOOSE how to participate in your life! Have you ever felt like your life is in a twirl and you just want things to change? Perhaps it’s a conversation at the water fountain or that you are just tired of dealing with people who see the glass half empty. Maybe something has triggered you, and you find yourself focusing on the junk rather than the possibilities. With all the changes happening around us it’s no wonder that many people are feeling this way. From our struggling economy to the increase in our need to “pack” our days full of activity just to get…

A Life Lesson from the Babies…

To find true joy you must see the magic in the little things The squeal rang out and every mom went running.  Imagine our surprise when we rounded the corner and there they were a group of toddlers the oldest maybe 4 who were all gathered in a circle.  They were pointing and jumping and “oooing” laughter and delight oozing from every ounce of their body. We expected tears and found none. The adults were puzzled and slowly moved forward unsure of what we would find in the center of all the mayhem.  And there it was…. a small puddle (remember in El Paso, Tx rain is a rare thing!) that the light…
