Is Being Polite REALLY that Hard?

Is it really THAT hard? I used to just shake my head when someone didn’t hold a door or say pardon me. I also used to see manners on display far more than I saw the rudeness. But more and more I’m finding that people are in their own little bubbles and they aren’t aware that their behavior and attitude affects the people around them. So I ask again, is it REALLY that hard? Is it really THAT hard to say excuse me, share a smile or engage in some small talk?  Is it REALLY that hard to teach your children manners, and for goodness sake is it REALLY that hard…

6 Steps to Get You Back on Track

If you have listened, watched or chatted by the water cooler, you have probably had your fill listening to how bad our economy is.  With the stock market on a downward trend, foreclosure rates rising and well everything else that is going on in the world today, it’s hard to get away from it all. This morning I had a conversation with a fellow milspouse that got me to thinking about where my attention has been, and how it has affected my thoughts and actions these last few weeks.  I realized that by inundating myself with the media’s interpretations and predictions of what is to come, I’ve gotten caught up in the negativity,…

Embrace Change: Get The Life You Desire

OK so a couple of days ago I’m talking to a good friend who has been “feeling” closer to 50 than her 43 years.  After a few minutes of chit-chat, and talking about some stuff going on in her life,  in true Judy form, I asked her what she was going to do about it.  What was her action plan. What transpired was both hilarious and a big realization for myself…. It’s easy to play the blame game, or spend time dwelling on the fact that life isn’t what we hoped for, but the reality is that our actions and habits have brought us to the place we are at, and only changing that up can take us in a…

7 Destructive Habits of Incompetent People

    Family Life & Expectations

Over the last few years we have had lots of company. It seems that we have a revolving door but in a whole new way.  From Michigan, to El Paso, to Colorado Springs in just 5 short years, everyone wants to come and check things out. You see, I come from a huge family and have always been surrounded by many generations and lots of “family activities”, that is until we joined the military.  This new lifestyle has given me the opportunity to go about our daily lives without the pull of things like family dinners, birthday parties, dance recitals, errands and all the other dynamics that come with living close to family and…
