Finding Your Way When You Feel Lost…

Do you feel as though you’ve lost your way? Does the start of a new day have you overwhelmed? Perhaps it seems as if you’re going in circles and don’t know what to do. Maybe you’re just tired of the same old grind, or know you were meant for more than this. Today, more than any other time in history, people are dissatisfied with their lives, and hoping that the start of a new year will turn things around! When some people look back on the good/bad of the past year they flip-flop between saying that their lives are a mess and being grateful for all the good that happened.  Some may even begin looking…

    The Secret Power of Quiet

Have you ever noticed that when things are crazy and life seems to be filled with challenges, that things become louder? Our spouse leaves for training or deployment, and we tend to “fill the void” as much as possible. We are on the phone more, watching TV more, the radio is louder and we speak in an “outdoor” voice just to drown out the quiet.  Everything is “kicked up a notch”, and we surround ourselves with busy-ness because we think it will help us.  And all of a sudden, it can seem as if the world demands more from us, and we find an increase in our “need” to be understood and heard. Ah…such is…

Get What You Want Out of Life

What are you willing to do differently to get what you want out of life? That is the question you have to ask yourself if you are feeling like things aren’t moving in the right direction! Why is it that when things aren’t moving along the way that we’d hoped we question, whine and just wish that our situation was different. Military Dependent Depression: A short video

Every day I am reminded of the sacrifices and stresses that the military community goes through and how it affects our families. There is a rising number of spouses and dependent family members that are dealing with varying degrees of depression and military dependent depression is a serious issue. In fact I even wrote about it in Are You Almost Depressed.  And while we have our battle buddies and support networks, the reality is that sometimes these sacrifices affect us in ways that are to much for us to handle on our own.  Please watch, share and comment on this quick video I recorded the other day that talks about…

Military Life: The Countdown to Deployment (Part 2)

Direction Moment:  Sometimes getting lost is the only way to get motivated. It’s interesting, this week I found myself feeling out of sorts. We are about 10 days into NTC, and I find that I’m feeling a bit lost.  I’m not really sure what is the best use of my time or the direction I’m going, and definitely unsettled where I am. Work was productive, heck I’ve even launched a new product this week  but it felt awkward. Home life felt like I was just going through the motions and no I’m done. I don’t have the motivation to work out or do anything productive. I found myself feeling lost and wanting my life –our life- back.…

Military Life: Politicians, Military Spouses and the Gossip Monger

There is no good that comes from listening to or fueling gossip, stop it and show the world your true character. I love this Spanish proverb. It really says it all doesn’t it? Sadly we live in a society that thrives on reality T.V., Honey BooBoo, gossip and rumors.  People love to stir things up and focus on all that is going wrong.  Just look at the political arena right now, the media is highlighting all the gossip, mistakes and short comings rather than focusing on the strengths. But even more so than in politics, the place that I have been seeing the “gossip monger” rearing it’s ugly head the most is…
