Small Biz Life: Do you have a plan?

Do you have a plan, or do you just going with the flow? Yes, I will confess, I am a more “go with the flow” kind of person, and that works for me…well for the most part. I love the energy of shifting gears, multi-tasking and doing what comes next, right up to the part that I am overwhelmed because there is so much on my plate and I don’t know what I am “supposed” to do. Do you ever feel that way? Maybe it’s the time of year with all the hustle and bustle of PCS season or maybe it’s just that I have so many AMAZING new things…

The Key to Find Balance As A Military Spouse

Chaos, stress, unexpected change. These are some of the biggest obstacles we face when trying to find balance in our life. I can’t tell you how many times my best thought out plans have been ruined because of an unexpected change in my soldiers day. It’s the little things that really send my life into free fall. The cold dinner, missed date night or the sad faces when another promised bed time story was delayed. It was like someone was playing a sick joke every time I tried to find balance to this rollercoaster life. So what is the key that helps me bring things back into some type of equilibrium? Quiet. Military Life: Random Thoughts of a Diva on safety

As a military spouse I have been briefed (by my soldier) on everything about being prepared, observing my surroundings, personal safety and well just about any other topic about being resourceful that you can imagine. But every now and again I even have to shake my head and wonder why I do what I do. Truth be told I’m secretly waiting for someone to walk up to me one day and say (shaking their head the entire time) “Give it…Hand it over, your privileges as a milspouse have been revoked – you of all people should know better”. And then they will then go back to their duties and I will be the laughing stock…

Stop making a big deal out of the littlest things!

Most of us only want to be happy.  Ideally our jobs, our relationships, and our leisure activities all help us do so.  But sometimes we let the little things in our military life interfere don’t we? A cancelled family dinner, last-minute duty—even a delay in orders can become such a huge issue that we forget how to live day-to-day stress free. All too often it’s not the major catastrophes, nor the big events that mess things up. It’s really the mole hills we build into mountains that eat at us and weigh us down. Think about your job or your service members schedule.  Is it the big projects that make you…

Am I Cut Out To Be A Military Spouse? Sometimes I’m not so sure…

As I sit here today tea in hand missing “normal” life, I feel guilty maybe even like a fraud. My “diva” side focuses on making lemonade from lemons, and well I’m just not feeling it at the moment. Sometimes if I allow myself to admit it, I’m not so sure I’m cut out to be a military spouse. I miss having family around, miss being able to hold my granddaughter and cook for my kids. I miss having friends who have known me so long that it’s effortless and I hate the fact that all too often my husband’s soldiers interrupt our life. I don’t know if it’s the crisp…

Military Life: It’s NOT Bonbons & Soap Operas!

I have to laugh whenever someone asks me what I do all day.  As The Direction Diva my life is full and hectic. I spend time blogging, speaking and writing and that’s in between calls, interviews and marketing tasks. OH and did I mention I’m a wife, mom and grandma!? So I’m busy all day, everyday and rarely have time to relax. Trust me it’s not bonbons and soap operas if that’s what you were thinking. In fact I don’t know a military spouse that isn’t going in a million different directions trying to get it all done. Sure we all have different job descriptions and me; I work from…
